We would like to announce the release of two new art prints that are now available for purchase by the public and the fans of Japanese Figure Skating.   These two new releases are supported by the Japanese Skating Federation.  They are the "Japan Tribute 2011" and the "Mao Asada 2013" art prints.  The first artwork contains depictions of the top Japanese figure skaters, who were to compete at the 2011 World Figure Skating Championships in Tokyo.  The second image depicts Mao Asada performing to Swan Lake during her 2012/2013 season.  The inspiration for the art prints was to help raise funds for charities in Japan after seeing the devastating earthquake of 2011.

As a result of the Great East Japan Earthquake that struck Japan on March 11 2011, Japan was forced to give up its scheduled hosting of the World Figure Skating Championships.  Eventually, after only three weeks of preparation, the event was held in Moscow as an alternative site.

With the event coming so close on the heels of a devastating tragedy that had produced many victims, encouragement and aid for Japan's recovery poured in from all over the world.  With the warm support of many Russian figure skating fans, the Japanese team as a whole did their best in the competition with the energy they could muster.  Despite circumstances that made it difficult for them to perform in top condition, the team managed to win two medals - a gold by Miki Ando and a silver by Takahiko Kozuka.

This project was started by Jurik Designs, artists Ann and Peter Jurik - a husband and wife team who reside in Canada.  They created a pencil drawing featuring the Japanese skaters because they wished to raise funds to help the victims of Japan.  The skaters are depicted expressing their unity, strength, courage, determination and optimism - in the face of hardship and devastation.  We are sincerely grateful for the people worldwide who have supported Japan's recovery and Japanese figure skating at this time.
